I asked for a PHP code snippet for access of the local service built into languagetool.jar. I can live with a Java snippet as well. I just don’t understand what to do exactly to post the data to the server; the API document curl example does not work for me; it refers to the remote API only.

Just detected by trial and error that it is:
http://localhost:/v2/check

Please notice the reply contains apiversion 1, when calling /v2/
