A few years ago I created a hunspell Bengali (Bangladesh) spellchecker which I spend hundreds of hours on and believe is the best available Bengali spellchecker (see:https://banglatypefoundry.com/spellchecker/). I’ve struggled to make it accessible to normal people though, and LanguageTool seems to be a great avenue to expand access (through extensions for major apps), and further develop it collaboratively with broader language rules.
I am not a veteran software developer, but I would be eager to write XML rules for Bengali and also am open to being a language maintainer for Bengali in LT. Could I get someone’s help to create a Github fork for Bengali (Bangladesh), aka bn_BD? Then I can get started writing some rules. Another early priority would be getting the hunspell spellchecker migrated over.
