[pt] Portuguese rule contribution/discussion

(Tiago F. Santos) #41

Thank you. That is perfect.

Feel free to change all mentions of REFORMULAR. The tricky part is not suggesting other 'cliches' and maintaining the meaning of the expression.
Also feel free to comment out any 'cliche' you find dodgy (in the sense that it may not be a cliche but only a common expression). This was a semi-automated task that I already corrected in a couple of occasions but it may benefit from more work.

@tiagosantos

I was revising my thesis and I have there something like:
"trazedores da justiça" (regarding what the terrorists believe they are).

Should I add a translation rule suggesting to replace with:
"justiceiros"
?

I need a second opinion before doing it.

Thanks!

(Tiago F. Santos) #43

Seriously? lol

I don't deal with those type of text, so you tell me. I believe it is ok to add that rule.
It certainly doesn't sound proper.
As long as it is an expression that doesn't make sense I think it is ok to add to that category.
But... please... don't go overboard with it.

@tiagosantos

I get errors in:
"A estima√ß√£o dos par√Ęmetros deve usar o m√©todo de m√°xima verosimilhan√ßa, relativamente a observa√ß√Ķes individuais da ocorr√™ncia de um determinado evento."

:slight_smile:

EDIT:
"Uma vez conhecidos os par√Ęmetros do modelo, este pode ser usado para fazer previs√Ķes."

EDIT2:
"A Informação pode assim ser tratada como uma quantidade física mensurável."

EDIT3:
I have been getting tons of hits with this word.
"√Č imposs√≠vel aos seres humanos discernirem o que est√° representado neles, s√≥ tendo utilidade quando se encontram numa forma relevante."

(Tiago F. Santos) #45

As I explained to you previously those are disambiguation errors. They are low priority and I will probably only work them with a grant. Meanwhile my focus is on adding features and cover as many error patterns as possible.

(Marco A.G.Pinto) #46

Ahhhh... sorry.

@tiagosantos

Hello!

I am translating documentation and found a false positive:
"No entanto, antes de vir à Terra por qualquer período de tempo,"
It suggests "h√°".

Thanks, kind regards,

(Marco A.G.Pinto) #48

"Isto pode soar incrível, mas devemos lembrar que na História Bíblica e antes, algumas pessoas da Terra chegaram à idade de quase 800 anos num corpo também."

It also suggests "h√°", there must be a bug with one of the rules.

Thanks!

Fixed

@tiagosantos

Hello!

Can you help?

I was trying to enhance the rule I created yesterday, but it only works with the verb "dizer":

<!-- COMO LHES + VERB + A VOCÊS como lhes + VERB -->
<rule id="COMO_LHES_VERB_A_VOCÊS" name="Como lhes VERB">
  <pattern>
      <token>como</token>
      <token>lhes</token>
      <token inflected='yes'>dizer</token>
      <token>a</token>
      <token>vocês</token>
  </pattern>
  <message>Pleonasmo. Substitua por:</message>
  <suggestion>\1 \2 \3</suggestion>
  <example correction="como lhes disse">Façam <marker>como lhes disse a vocês</marker>.</example>
</rule>

Could you explain me how to fix it?

Thanks!

Kind regards,

(Tiago F. Santos) #52

What is the specific issue you face?

I tested this on my build and it works well. Try copy-paste this:

<!-- COMO LHES DISSE A VOCÊS como lhes disse -->
<rule id="COMO_LHES_DISSE_A_VOCÊS" name="Como lhes disse">
  <pattern>
      <token>como</token>
      <token regexp='yes'>lhes?|vos|te</token>
      <token inflected='yes'>dizer</token>
      <token>a</token>
      <token regexp='yes'>vocês?</token>
  </pattern>
  <message>Pleonasmo. Substitua por:</message>
    <suggestion>\1 \2 \3</suggestion>
  <example correction="como lhes disse">Façam <marker>como lhes disse a vocês</marker>.</example>
</rule>

(Marco A.G.Pinto) #53

@tiagosantos

It doesn't work with:
"Como lhes falei a vocês"

If I change the verb, it doesn't work :frowning:

(Tiago F. Santos) #54

You have to add regexp='yes' and the verb. Like this:

      <token inflected='yes' regexp='yes'>dizer|falar</token>

(Marco A.G.Pinto) #55

@tiagosantos

I believe there was a command for all verbs?

:frowning:

I am stressed... :frowning:

(Marco A.G.Pinto) #56

@tiagosantos

I have found out how to do it:

<!-- COMO LHES + VERB + A VOCÊS como lhes + VERB -->
<rule id="COMO_LHES_VERB_A_VOCÊS" name="Como lhes VERB">
	<pattern>
		<token>como</token>
		<token regexp='yes'>lhes?|vos|te</token>
		<token postag_regexp='yes' postag='V.+'></token>
		<token>a</token>
		<token regexp='yes'>vocês?</token>
	</pattern>
	<message>Pleonasmo. Substitua por:</message>
		<suggestion>\1 \2 \3</suggestion>
	<example correction="como lhes disse">Façam <marker>como lhes disse a vocês</marker>.</example>
</rule>

Now it works with all verbs:
"Como lhes expliquei a vocês"
etc.

About to commit it.

Thanks!

Great! Thank you for the contribution. Best regards.

@tiagosantos

Hello Tiago,

I found a bug using ellipsis:
"Além disso… "

It says to add a space after it, but there is already a space.

Could you take a look at it?

Thanks!

Kind regards,

(Tiago F. Santos) #59

Thank you for the report.

@tiagosantos

Hello Tiago,

I wanted to create a rule:
"Meu irm√£o, descansa em p√°s."

To suggest replacing "p√°s" with "paz".

So, I typed the text above in LO to check if the rule already existed.

It triggered two rules:
1) It suggests "O meu";
2) It says "p√°s" is informal language.

Is 2) a false positive or can it somehow be improved not to be triggered in a sentence such as the above?

Thanks!

Kind regards,
