Colours + no bolding for dyslexsics

Hi,

I’ve just started using LanguageTool. It’s great for spelling but does anyone (who is dyslexic, find the correction suggestions difficult to read?

I feel them really difficult to read because of the contrast of white on blue isn’t good enough. Also, the bolding of the suggested extra or replacement letters in the word makes is soooo hard. Finally, the suggestions box seems unnecessarily large.

Thanks,

James

Hi James, thanks for your feedback. Could you please send a screenshot, just to make sure we know what you’re talking about?

Here is an example. The light blue with white on top isn’t really contrasted enough. The bolding of a few letters makes it really hard to read. The fact it is far away from the word means more eye and mouse movement.

Compare it to the this design. Less screen space, easier to read etc etc.

Just to add another thing. Sometimes you get whole sentences of ‘learning’ between the word and the suggestion. I’m not trying to learn the language, and I know the system has found a problem because it has underlined the text with a colour. Red for spelling, orange for grammar. So, why do I need these words? It just makes is really, really hard to read.

Can I turn off these paragraphs or learning?

Can I turn off these paragraphs or learning?

I don’t think so, but what was the input that caused the suggestion?

Hi,

I can’t remember, but it seems to me that the developers / designers of the software want to appear intelligent rather than solve the problem of spelling and grammar correction. I would appreciate it if there was a setting for “Just keep it simple and readable”.
