when an ellipsized sentence is split, but not broken, over multiple lines for readability, it triggers the fragmentation rule.
EG:

which meant a second INNER glass-plate…
which on its turn meant it was a later addition designed to NOT damage the painting-proper.

Should have the same result. (other than the fact that the former implies thinking from the POV-character while the later merely indicates a sequence of facts.
