[en] Problem with Rule ID = EVERY_EACH_SINGULAR

(Praneet Khandelwal) #1

I used the following two sentences:

I want to speak to every kids in the school.
I want to speak to each kids in the school.

The LT shows me error only in the first statement and not in the second statement whereas the rule includes both the cases.

(Lodewijk Arie van Brienen) #2

I believe the scope of the rule's implementation is causing 'kids' in the second case to be misread as the third-person singular simple present indicative form of the verb 'kid' (as in: just kidding!)
causing "each kids" to be erroneously expanded into "each of them kids"

How to solve that inconsistency?..

Please let us know.

I have just fixed this error in https://github.com/languagetool-org/languagetool/commit/dc8b453b5eadc626830d11a1d2c83862b16dff26
