Hello,
Thanks to the developers of languagetool.
I do not know how to install the standalone version. I am using Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 10 on my laptop.
My knowledge of programming is zero.
Kindly guide me.
Best,

There’s no need to install it, just unzip the *.zip and then run languagetool.jar by double clicking it.
Thank you very much dnaber.
I did not have java. With java installed I get the languagetool-user.
Thanks to the developers and the support team.

Could you post a screen shot of the Java exception? (The file you need to double click is languagetool.jar.)

Another user had this problem and I suggested moving the LanguageTool folder to C:\ (instead of some sub folder):
http://languagetool-user-forum.2306527.n4.nabble.com/get-message-A-Java-exception-has-occurred-when-triying-to-install-standalone-td4640940.html
Unfortunately, the user never replied, but that’s what you could try.

Sorry it didn’t help. You might want to search the web for “A Java exception has occurred”, as this isn’t a LT specific problem.

There should be three JAR files in the top folder: languagetool.jar, languagetool-server.jar, and languagetool-commandline.jar. If they are not there, please try downloading again, your download might be incomplete. The one you probably want to start is languagetool.jar.
