I have my own languagetool server and I also use the browser plugin.
But for some applications a frontend like the one on https://languagetool.org would be very useful. Is there something like that already?
There’s no such front-end publicly available, sorry. For selected business customers, we have a beta version.
Then I guess I’ll have to build something myself. Are there plugin for editors (TinyMCE, CKEditor, etc) that can use a self-hosted server?
I found this old question because I have the same problem. Is there any update on the topic of an open self-hostable version?
Honestly, the biggest advantage I see in LanguageTool is its openness compared to other proprietary alternatives. Without a good WebUI, it is no better for me than any other proprietary service. I am especially interested in the Paraphraser. This feature also seems to be missing in the Java desktop version.
I would like to see a simple self-hosting alternative, because LanguageTool is not only a tool for fun, but also for bridging countries and cultures. For this reason, spreading LanguageTool could almost be understood as a mission of world communication and piece.
Is a self-hosting version on the roadmap?
There’s no new Open Source front-end planned. The concept is that we provide the API and other software vendors then integrate it.
Can you please explain this in more detail? Will I be able to run Paraphrazer with the planned frontend on my own self-hosted server (including API)? I need a fully self-hosted option due to data regulations for my business and offline usage in my personal life. I travel a lot to remote areas without internet.
Sorry, there is no new front-end planned yet that supports a self-hosted paraphraser.
Thanks for your reply. A front-end self-hosted option would be amazing! Please consider it.
Hey all, I was in the same pickle as you were so I’ve made this:
It works with selfhosted lang tool and libre translate. Still getting new features in but it’s already useful Hope this helps!
