We have been using the LanguageTool extension for quite a while in our schools, works great, thank you very much.
Unfortunately, we are having issues when using Google Slides. Typing has quite a long delay, to the point where some of our Chromebooks stop displaying the page. This only occurs when the LanguageTool extension is enabled, when we disable the extension, no issues.
We have made sure the browser is up to date. Even have tested this on a fresh installation of the extension, unfortunately has the same issue.
I have the exact same problem here on multiple Chromebooks. The update that was released today fixed a few, but not all of them. Does anyone have specific instructions for fixing this without disabling Language Tool?
I have been having this problem too. I recommend LanguageTool to all my students (hundreds of users), and so this is a serious issue for me. Please fix. Also, I can’t turn off LanguageTool for all Google Docs domains (Slides, Docs, etc.) because I still very much need LanguageTool for Google Docs (where fortunately there is no problem).
I would like to add that I also work in a school and have hundreds of users. Lanaguage tool is completely broken in google slides right now. It locks up windows pcs and chromebooks chrome browsers. I have to disable the extension and restart the browser in order to fix. I have confirmed on multiple machine types that I am only getting the issue when using google slides. Please help!
Thank you for reporting the issues with Google Docs and Slides. We’re really sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing, and we hope to have this resolved as soon as possible.
It would help us a lot in resolving this, if you could let me know…
Which browser you are using
Which version of the browser extension you have
Please feel free to share any additional information.
Thank you in advance! We’ll keep a close eye on this thread to pass along your information as soon as possible.
I have only seen the problem on Chromebooks. It was confusing. I first thought it was only happening with chromeOS 134, because we confirmed students using 132 and 133 were not having any problems. So, I rolled back chromeOS to 133, tested it with a student known to have the issue and the issue continued on version 133. I then rolled back to 132 and the issue still continued. I say that to say, I believe it started happening early last week or at the end of the week prior to that. I also believe that once the problem starts happening with an account, it follows the account.
I had previously seen this issue on both Mac and Windows, using Chromium-based browsers (Google Chrome, Google Chrome Canary, and Brave). However, with the new update, LanguageTool now works properly in both Google Slides and Google Docs! Thanks for addressing the issue!
We’ve continued to see random reports of this issue. Our workaround is turning of Language Tool for Google Slides. Did update 8.19.4 include additional improvements? Thank you!
