I know there is a few months old thread about LanguageTool with Overleaf add-on, but my problem is with the new version 9.01, that is not working (at least with my Windows 11 computer).
Other sites seem to work OK.
I have tested with Firefox, chrome and edge, and it does not work in any of them. I have been able to reinstall version 8.19.4 in both Firefox and Chrome (not in edge) and it works fine in Overleaf, so it seems like some regression/bug.
If you want me to make any kind of test, I can do it.
I have the same problem in the Overleaf compiler when I use Chrome on Windows 10. It is really annoying when you pay for the plugin and it stops working mid-bachelor thesis.
I downloaded an old version (8.19.4) from crx4chrome (it seems it is a legit site that downloads and stores old chrome plugins; you can look for information about it in internet because I was also afraid of that site when I saw it). I unzipped it (rename the crx to zip) into a folder, and in the chrome plugins manager I uploaded as “plugin uncompressed version” (I don’t have chrome in English, so this is a translation from what I see). Then, 8.19.4 version was installed together with the last one (9.0.1), I disabled 9.0.1 (didn’t uninstall, just in case), closed and opened chrome, and with version 8.19.4 everything worked (and it is still working) again.
Hope it helps with your bachelor thesis (Probably I am much older, but I am also in the academic world).
Thank you so much. I followed your instructions and got LanguageTool with Version 8.19.4 working again in Overleaf. You really saved my thesis with that one. The workflow with pasting text in the LanguageTool spell checker was so annoying. Love from Germany <3
Had the same issue. Thankfully, I found this thread. Version 8.x.x works flawlessly in Firefox. One can download older versions through the official addon store
