Hello!

I wrote:
“Há muito tempo que não via publicações da Ana.”
and “via publicações” was flagged as a concordance error.

I was wondering if changing the POS would fix it.

I went to Priberam for the verb “via”:

via | s. f. | prep.
1ª pess. sing. pret. imperf. ind. de ver
3ª pess. sing. pret. imperf. ind. de ver

POS in our database:
NCFS000
VMII1S0
VMII2S0
VMII3S0

Then, I compared with the verb “bebia”:

1ª pess. sing. pret. imperf. ind. de beber
3ª pess. sing. pret. imperf. ind. de beber

POS in our database:
VMII1S0
VMII2S0
VMII3S0

Could I believe that “VMII2S0” is wrong?

Also, Priberam says that “via” is also a preposition, so, shouldn’t it have:
SPS00

What is your opinion?

Hi Marco,

Nice catch.
However the VMII2S0 ar correct for the formal treatment. Think of, for example, “Você não via o que se estava a passar, mas [você] bebia demasiado!” so, it is actually missing on the second case. However, the formal treatment is to use the 3rd person singular. Tough call to decide to add all of those missing VMII2S0. Your call.

To help a little bit on this ‘via’ should be disambiguated. I will think of something in the coming days.
