Safari/Chrome extension in Coda (superhuman docs)

Hi, is there anyone having issues with LT in Coda? I used to work with it until this week, when it stopped recognising text as text, and it is not working any more. It’s a big problem for me as most of my typing is done there. I’ve raised it with the support, but wanted to know if anyone knows a workaround, or at least is having similar issues.

This kind of sudden breakage usually means Coda pushed an editor update that changed how their text fields are structured, which trips up extensions like LT that rely on detecting standard editable elements. Since it broke this week without you changing anything, that’s the likely cause. Not much of a clean workaround unfortunately, but you could try disabling/re-enabling the extension, or drafting in a plain editor and pasting in. Good that you flagged support, this usually needs an LT-side fix to re-sync with Coda’s DOM.

Thank you very much for your response. I’ve raised it with LT, but unfortunately, they weren’t of much help. They suggested me to contact Coda, which I don’t think will work as Coda are owned by the same company who owns Grammarly, and maybe they’ve done it on purpose. I’m doing exactly as you proposed, drafting and pasting, but it adds an unnecessary step to my workflow. So, I was trying to find a way to go back to the way I used to work, as it’s my main use of LT.

That fits the timing exactly, it broke this week with nothing changing on my end, so a Coda editor update reshaping their text field structure is the likely trigger. If LT relies on detecting standard editable elements and Coda moved to a custom DOM setup, that’d knock it out cleanly. The disable/re-enable is worth a shot, and drafting in a plain editor then pasting in is a decent stopgap even if clunky. Sounds like it really needs an LT-side fix to re-sync with Coda’s DOM though. Glad I flagged support then. Thanks for pinning the cause.

Yeah, Coda constantly updates its editor structure so browser extensions often stop recognizing the text boxes out of nowhere. Until support pushes a patch, I’ve had some luck toggling the extension off and on for coda. io or just using the desktop app instead since it doesn’t rely on the browser DOM. Hopefully they fix it soon though, it’s super annoying when it breaks your workflow.
