Self-hosting the server vs running LT locally

I am wondering what the pros and cons are for:

  • running LT locally on the laptop; compared to
  • running LT on my own server and connecting to it

(I realise neither has premium features, which is OK for my simple use-case)

A search both on these forums and elsewhere online did not give me any good answer.

LT is optimized for server use, so if you have a server running anyway, it makes sense to run it there. It can also use quite a bit of memory, which you maybe don’t want to spend on your laptop.
